Professional Pianist Martin Bissell
Born in Stourbridge, West Midlands.Passion for music began at an early age,whilst listening to his father,who was a church organist,and uncle who played piano.
After a varied career studied at Birmingham Conservatoire for three years gaining a ABSM,then onto Leeds College of Music studying Jazz and Contemporary Music gaining a First Class Degree. A post graduate year followed concentrating on Big Band Arranging and Jazz piano.
Worked at all the major hotels around the midlands as a solo and Band performer.
Travelled extensively working on cruise ships. 1992-1998, worked for Royal
Caribbean as a pianist and MD in a 12 piece orchestra,working with artists such as
Four Tops, Detroit Spinners, Jack Jones, Petula Clarke, Al Martino, Ronnie Corbett, Stutz Bear Cats, Herb Reid And The Platters.
Main influences musically, too many to mention, but here’s a few.
Dave Grusin, Bill Evans, Tony Bennett, Erroll Garner,Chick Corea, Dudley Moore, Stevie Wonder, J.S.Bach. Mozart.Faure.Debussy.
